Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ms. Arti Singh Rao today inaugurated an important workshop aimed at training healthcare professionals on the new management protocols for Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR TB). This workshop is a vital step in strengthening the state’s efforts to combat MDR TB, ensuring that healthcare providers are equipped with the latest treatment guidelines and advancements in patient care.
In her address, the Health Minister emphasized the urgent need to enhance the capacity of healthcare workers in addressing MDR TB, which remains one of the most significant public health challenges in the country. She reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving TB diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes, especially in light of the evolving drug-resistant strains.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of community involvement, particularly through initiatives like the Nikshay Shivir, which plays a crucial role in identifying and addressing missing TB cases. Ms. Arti Singh Rao concluded her speech by assuring that the state government would continue to support training programs and provide all necessary resources to effectively combat MDR TB.
MLA Dr. Krishan Kumar also addressed the gathering, providing an overview of the history of the TB control program. He urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to the collective goal of TB elimination. The Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, also addressed the participants, stressing the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve the goal of TB elimination.
He reminded the attendees that the battle against TB is a collective responsibility, with enhanced training, timely diagnosis, and patient-centered care being key to ensuring success. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Brahmdeep Singh, Director of Health Services, Haryana, who expressed gratitude to the Minister, Additional Chief Secretary (Health), and all participants for their commitment to this important initiative.
Dr. Singh emphasized that, by strengthening efforts to combat TB, we are contributing to India’s vision of a TB-free nation. He concluded the session with the powerful message: “TB HAREGA, DESH JEETEGA.”
The workshop also featured expert speakers from the Central TB Division and other healthcare organizations, who provided in-depth training on the revised treatment protocols, drug administration, patient progress monitoring, and addressing the psychological impact on patients.
