Villages with SC population will get an additional grant of Rs 20 lakh per village

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the development of villages is being given special priority by the Punjab government while inviting the Panchayats to be cooperative in the efforts being made by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to make the state 'Rangla Punjab'. 

She was addressing the newly elected Panchs of the district here today before administering oath to them. Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced in her address during the function held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium that her Department of Social Justice and Empowerment will provide a special grant of Rs. 20 lacks to all those villages where SC population is more than 50 percent.  

She said that 40 villages of Fazilka come under this scheme and the first installment of the grant will be released soon. She called for strengthening the community in the villages and ending the caste divide and said that the villages which will build a common cremation ground will also be given a grant of 5 lakh rupees by her department.

The cabinet minister said that the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan will will ensure funds for development works but will also ensure that people's money is spent on people. 

She congratulated the newly elected panch sarpanches and said that the panch sarpanch has the biggest role in the development of the village and people have placed their trust in you, so now it is your responsibility to live up to the people's trust. 

On this occasion, she specially congratulated the women who became panch sarpanch and asked them to actively participate in the panchayat work.

On this occasion, the cabinet minister administered the oath to the panches of the five blocks of the district, while the chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann administered the oath to the sarpanches in a function held few days back at Ludhiana.

Speaking earlier, Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna welcomed everyone and wished the panches and sarpanches . Arun Narang former MLA Abohar said that the role of panchayats is important. 

Jalalabad MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy said that the official work of panchayats is going to start from today and there will be no shortage of grants from the government and the panchayats should spend these grants diligently in the villages.

MLA of Balluana Amandeep Singh Goldy Musafir said that the Panchayats have an important role in making the dream of the development of villages a reality that the Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu IAS, SSP Sr. Varinder Singh Brar, District Planning Board Chairman Mr. Sunil Sachdeva, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr. Mandeep Kaur, SP Ramnish Chaudhary, SDM Mr. Kanwarjit Singh Mann, DDPO Mr. Gurdarshan Lal Kundal along with Officials of various departments and dignitaries of the society were present.
