Youth Akali Dal, led by President Sarbjeet Singh Jhinjher, today celebrated the auspicious Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji by organizing 'Dastaaran Da Langar' (Free Turban Tying Camps) under its 'Meri Dastaar Meri Shaan' campaign across Punjab at over 20 locations. Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer, who participated in the Dastaar Camp at historic Gurdwara Ber Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi, said, "It is my good fortune that I could pay my obeisance at the historic place of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his 555th Prakash Purab.

As the whole country and Nanak Naam Lewa Sangat across the globe celebrate this Prakash Purab, Guru Sahib has himself bestowed us with this sewa of organizing 'Dastaaran De Langar' across Punjab." He further informed, "'Meri Dastaar Meri Shaan' is our flagship initiative to bring back our youth to Sikhi and our Sikh values. The Turban is our pride and identity given to us by our Guru Sahib, and we need to preserve and promote it.

I, along with my very talented and hardworking team of Youth Akali Dal, have been running this campaign since the last 1.5 years and we have gotten an overwhelming response from the people of Punjab. This is the first initiative under which turbans are tied by our teams to people coming to political rallies, sports events, and these historic-religious events."

YAD President Jhinjer further said, "Today also we have gotten an overwhelming response from all over Punjab, with over 10,000 turbans being tied across all camps. Here in Sultanpur Lodhi, people came to our camp themselves and asked us to tie turbans to them.

Many youngsters have promised us that they will now start wearing turbans regularly, and I am hopeful that they will follow through. In Amritsar Sahib also, our team got a great response, as even foreigners turned up to the camp and requested that turbans be tied to them, which gives us immense happiness to share our culture with the world."

Jhinjher also emphasized the significance of preserving Sikh traditions and values, especially on this sacred day. He praised the enthusiasm and dedication of the youth workers in promoting their cultural identity. The Youth Akali Dal has been consistently organizing such turban-tying camps across Punjab, promoting Sikh identity and community service.

Giving more information about these camps, Sarabjeet Jhinjer informed, "Overall, 24 camps were held in Punjab and one in Haryana at various locations: Gurdwara Ber Sahib Sultanpur Lodhi, Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar, Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, Pathankot, Sri Mukatsar Sahib, Tarn Taran, Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib Jalandhar, Nawanshahar, Mohali, Roopnagar, Ropar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Khanna, Patiala, Bhawanigarh, Barnala, Mansa, Abohar, Ferozpur, Ludhiana, Moga, Faridkot, Khanna, and one at Gurdwara Sri Nada Sahib Panchkula."
