Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that to ensure complete care of the cow progeny, the state government has made a budget provision of Rs 400 crore for the Gau Sewa Aayog this year, which will be increased to Rs 510 crore in the coming year. He said a special campaign is being run towards the care of vulnerable and helpless cows. In the next 3 months, such cows will not be seen on the roads.

The Chief Minister was addressing the festival organized at Govan Seva Dham, Panchkula on the occasion of Gopashtami today. Earlier, the Chief Minister did Parikrama of Sector 23 Govan Seva Dham and also did Gau Seva. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to give Rs 21 lakh from his discretionary fund to Gau-Van Dham Gaushala.

He said that cow has been given the status of mother and its milk is like nectar, adding that we have to work together to protect the mother cow. He said that Gopashtami is a festival associated with our ‘sanskaar’. He said on this day, Lord Shri Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain to serve the mother cow and since then he was named Govind.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the government has decided to give financial assistance of Rs 1,25,000 per e-rickshaw to the cowsheds with 1000 cows to buy one e-rickshaw and to the cowsheds with more than this to buy two e-rickshaws. He said now there will be no need to take CLU to build a cowshed.

The Chief Minister said it has also been decided to provide 90 percent subsidy for setting up solar power plants in cow shelters and to have a doctor take care of the cows in shelters having 3000 cows once a week for health checkup. He said the farmer who rears a local cow will be given a grant of Rs 30,000 per cow per year.

The Chief Minister said that now the registry of land donated or purchased for the cow shelter has been completely exempted from tax. Apart from this, there will be no EDC fee. He said that there is no need to take any permission from the Electricity and Irrigation Department to install a tubewell in the cow shelter. 

The cow shelter that catches a helpless calf, heifer, village or bull and brings it to the cow shelter will be paid cash at the rate of Rs 300 per calf/heifer, Rs 600 per cow and Rs 800 per bull. He said that the government has also decided to make arrangements for the fodder of the cow shelters. An amount of Rs 20 for calves, Rs 30 for cows and Rs 40 for bulls will be provided by the government. 

The Chief Minister said that the National Gokul Mission has been implemented to make cows a means of livelihood so that all cows can be protected and promoted easily.The Chief Minister said that cow sanctuaries are being built in Panipat and Hisar. Thus the government is committed to the protection of cows and every possible promotion will be done.

After the programme, the Chief Minister inspected the medical room, cancer room, ICU ward built for the treatment of cows in the cowshed. He took complete information about the treatment of injured cows and also did Tuladan in the cowshed.
