PSPCL and GNDEC Ludhiana Sign MoU to Offer Capacity-Building Programs for PSPCL Employees

The program will enhance the skills of PSPCL employees and provide them with exposure to cutting-edge technologies

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), Ludhiana, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the guidance of Power Minister of Punjab, Harbhajan Singh ETO. This collaboration aims to further strengthen the policies and programs initiated by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The MoU aims to conduct capacity-building programs, including preparation and dissemination of training modules, etc. and providing specific advisory services to Government Agencies, Multilateral Agencies, and other stakeholders. Besides, Both PSPCL and GNDEC will cooperate and work for the development and promotion of research collaborations in subjects/ areas of mutual interest resulting in the grant of degrees/diplomas and certificates to officers. MoU shall remain in effect for next 3 years.

The scope of the MoU includes fostering interaction between PSPCL and GNDEC to gain insights into the latest industry developments and requirements. GNDEC will offer capacity-building programs to PSPCL employees, enhancing their skills and providing exposure to cutting-edge technologies, particularly in areas such as Smart Grids, Material Selection, Failure Analysis and Characterization of Materials, Data Analytics, and Power Distribution Systems, as well as other engineering domains.

The scope also includes PSPCL providing necessary support to GNDEC by supplying data and use cases for research purposes, enabling students to address real industry challenges.The collaboration will feature regular faculty exchanges, joint applied research studies, and the development of strategic policy papers in areas of mutual interest.

Both parties will co-host workshops, seminars, short-term courses, and certification programs for skill development and training at their respective premises.The agreement includes mutual access to libraries and e-journals for research and study. These training programs and activities will be planned and formalized in advance, with scheduling based on mutual convenience, needs, and agreed-upon Terms of Reference (ToR).

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC), Ludhiana, does not have any financial commitment under this MoU. GNDEC will engage in academic and research activities outlined in the MoU, and any financial considerations will be addressed separately.

PSPCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Er. Baldev Singh Sran, Director/Human Resources Er.Ravinder Singh Saini, GNDEC Ludhiana Principal Dr.Sehijpal Singh were among those present at the time of signing of MoU.Meanwhile, Power Minister of Punjab, Harbhajan Singh ETO, expressed hope that the MoU will enhance the professionalism and efficiency of PSPCL in the future.

He emphasized the importance of offering capacity-building programs to PSPCL employees to improve their skills and provide exposure to cutting-edge technologies, as outlined in the MoU. He also expressed confidence that the MoU will be highly beneficial for both PSPCL and the state.
