Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Department Minister, Smt. Shruti Choudhry directed the officers to expedite the development works and submit their progress report swiftly. While presiding over a meeting of the department here today, Smt. Shruti Choudhry said that Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini has set a target of 100 days for the completion of the developmental works and for the submission of the progress report.

The Irrigation and Water Resource Minister emphasised the importance of not only cleaning and maintaining of the canal but also the consistent water supply through canals. She said that officers should tell her without any hesitation the challenges faced by them while executing the plans on ground level. During the meeting, she also reviewed the status of projects with budgets exceeding Rs.10 crore.

She further stated that officers should work swiftly to promote new technologies such as micro-irrigation at the state level to ensure effective water supply to fields. She further stated the need for coordination among different departments to ensure that public funds are used effectively without wastage due to lack of synchronisation.

The Minister also reviewed the progress with Pond Authority officers on the construction of artificial ponds across the state and discussed the status, maintenance, and beautification of natural ponds in villages and towns. She said that artificial "model ponds" will aid in groundwater conservation and contribute to water supply. Targets for model ponds to be constructed this year should be set and the work completed on time.
