With the intense efforts of the district administration, the district is moving fast on the way to solve the issue of stubble burning. Last year, 618 fire incidents were reported to date, and this year the figure is 164.
This was disclosed by Dr. Sona Thind, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib, while interacting with the farmers at villages Hansali and Nabipur during the awareness programs organized to create awareness among farmers against stubble burning.
During this, she also motivated the farmers to use the alternates of the DAP like NPK, Single Super Phosphate, Triple Super Phosphate, and other fertilizers for the sowing of wheat.
She further disclosed that to tackle the issue of stubble burning, 36 cluster officers and 121 nodal officers are working continuously and keeping an eye on farm fire incidents.
The district administration was not leaving any stone unturned to motivate the farmers against stubble burning. She said that the farmers, those who have not burned the stubble, would be honored, and panchayats of villages from which even a single case of farm fire has not been reported would also be honored.
Giving further details, the deputy commissioner said that for the stubble management this year, 628 machines have been provided with the subsidy of 11.5 crores to the farmers.
Till now, a total of 2539 machines have been provided to the farmers of the district. She said that the small farmers can use the machines for stubble management through cooperative societies and progressive farmers.
Small farmers can also avail of subsidized machinery by creating farmer groups. While addressing the gathering at village Nabipur, Arvind Gupta, SDM, Fatehgarh Sahib, said that farmers can mix the stubble in the fields with the help of the Agriculture Department's In-situ scheme and make bales with Ex-situ schemes.
He stressed upon the proper management of the stubble so that the practice of stubble burning would be stopped completely. During this, Rakesh Yadav, SP (D), Dharminderjit Singh, CAO, Vishal Goyal, Tehsildar Fatehgarh Sahib, Sukhnaaz Singh, DSP Fatehgarh Sahib, Raj Kumar, DSP Bassi Pathana, Deep Shikha BDPO Sirhind, Boota Singh, BAO, and Jatinder Singh, DPD, were also present among a large number of farmers and officials of various departments.
