With the aim of making the ongoing procurement process of paddy on a war footing, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain and Senior Superintendent of Police Gulneet Singh Khurana on Saturday visited Grain Markets of Bharatgarh, Agampur and Kiratpur, While monitoring the paddy procurement, he stated that 98 percent of paddy has been procured in district Rupnagar, so far and Rs. 171.45 crores have been transferred in the bank accounts of the farmers, which has given a lot of relief to the farmers.

Speaking to the media on this occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that issues of the farmers is the first priority of the district administration for which adequate arrangements have been made for the paddy procurement in the district and farmers are being paid within the stipulated time. Now the farmers were also expressed satisfaction over the progress.

He said that the officials of all procurement agencies have been ordered to ensure that the lifting of paddy from all the markets is done by this evening. He said that he has personally kept a close eye on the lifting process. 

On the occasion of reviewing the purchase of paddy in Anaj Mandi Kiratpur and Bharatgarh, Deputy Commissioner talked to the farmers and said that earlier there was issue regarding lifting but now allotment has been made to 31 shellers whereas the rest will be done today.

He assured the farmers that the administration has been monitoring the procurement process with seriousness and all the arrangements have been made for the convenience of the farmers in the markets and the district administration is continuously monitoring the performance of the procurement agencies.  

Deputy Commissioner appealed to the farmers of the district not to set fire to the paddy straw in their fields as burning causes environmental pollution, which poses a risk of many diseases and also damages the farmers. On this occasion, SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana said that the there is no problem regarding the law and order situation anywhere and the procurement process is carried out smoothly. 

Police and district administration have jointly worked for the convenience of the farmers. On this occasion, district food supply controller Mrs. Kimmi Vaneet Kaur along with officials of various departments and farmers were present.
