Haryana's Irrigation & Water Resources and Women & Child Development Minister Shruti Choudhry held back to back meetings with officials of both departments at her office here today. She got information about the schemes of the state and central governments from the officials and instructed them to submit the report of the status of the ongoing projects in various districts, the works started and the deadline for their completion.

She said under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the government aims that development should reach to the people standing in the last row (Antyodaya). In such a situation, the officials should not stick to past practices but also do innovative work at the ground level.

Cabinet Minister Shruti Choudhry stressed in the meeting of the officials of Irrigation and Water Resources Department that water should be available equally to all farmers for irrigation. Also, the officials should make serious efforts to ensure that people of Haryana get drinking water in sufficient quantity from canal drinking water projects so that they can be saved from diseases like cancer.

For this, instead of focusing on any particular area, work should be done equally in the entire state. She gave instructions to ensure equal distribution of water according to the availability in the rivers, canals, groundwater, rainwater, and to provide water from drinking water projects uninterruptedly. She also obtained information about the vacant posts in Haryana in the BBMB.

The minister also gave instructions to expedite the implementation of Bhakra and Yamuna canal water distribution system, lifting water distribution system in south Haryana, Gurugram and Mewat regions, shared water projects with Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi and to keep the interest of the people of the state paramount.

The minister summoned the updated report of the real time monitoring system being used in the distribution of water. Expressing concern over the serious situation regarding the groundwater level, she instructed that there is a need to make concrete efforts in this direction.

The minister, citing the example of foreign technology of countries like Sweden and Israel, emphasized on making water clean and reusable by using solar energy. She also said that water conservation is very important for everyone. In such a situation, people in villages and cities should be informed about a possible water crisis in future.

he minister also directed to hold coordination meetings with the concerned departments, including agriculture and public health department, for the availability of clean drinking water and water to farmers for irrigation. The minister directed to work towards conservation of water flowing wastefully from seasonal rivers like Markanda and Tangri and to use it for irrigation after the rains.

She gathered information about Krishnavati, Sahibi and Dohan rivers in south India. She also issued instructions to strengthen the structure of canals in the entire state. The Cabinet Minister also issued instructions to work on the solution of the problem of sewage in Rohtak, Jhajjar and Charkhi Dadri.

She instructed the officials to inform her about all the projects of the department which are currently underway by Monday, right from when these were started and by when they are to be completed. No work should be pending in the department, she said.

Officials should ensure quality training of Anganwadi workers

In the meeting of the Women and Child Welfare Department, Cabinet Minister Shruti Choudhry emphasized on good quality training of Anganwadi workers and assistants. She said these are the real workers working at the ground level who implement the schemes of the department.

She said the quality of food given to children in Anganwadi centers, creches and play schools should be maintained at all costs. She also said women and children should be given Vitamin D in Anganwadi centers. The minister said the correct use of the human resources available with the government should be ensured.

The benefits and information of the schemes should be made available to the last person in every village. Women should be trained to prepare different dishes in cities as well as rural areas by the use of coarse grains. The Cabinet Minister issued instructions to the officials to prepare such a project in collaboration with other departments through which women can be given employment.

The minister also took a report of the reform homes. She said under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Shakti Sadans will soon be built for women in Panchkula, Gurugram and Faridabad. The minister directed the officials to soon give a report of the ongoing projects in the department and the deadline of their completion.

All the work should be completed on time, she said. On this occasion, ACS Anurag Agarwal of Irrigation Department, ACS Amneet P Kumar of Women and Child Welfare Department and top officials of both the departments were present.
