On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, MLA from Central Assembly constituency Dr Ajay Gupta visited Dana Mandi Bhagtawala along with Naib Tehsildar Ajay Sharma, District Mandi Officer Amandeep Singh, District Food and Supply Officer Sartaj Singh and other officials and reviewed the procurement system.
MLA Dr Gupta said that on the orders of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, he has come to visit the Mandi for the third time. Along with this, he is also holding meetings with sheller owners. He said that the lifting in the mandis of Amritsar has increased significantly.
Dr Ajay Gupta said that so far 138035 metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of the district and 74768 metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted and farmers have been paid Rs 246.93 crore. He said that paddy procurement is continuing by various procurement agencies.
He said that farmers are not facing any difficulty in paddy procurement in the mandis of Amritsar district. He said that discussions were held with the farmers today. The officers have been given instructions to purchase the remaining lifting. Farmers are also being given full facilities in the mandis.
MLA Dr Ajay Gupta also held a meeting with sheller owners today. Vinod Gujral of Jagdamba Rice Mill, Vinod Chadha of Safety Rice Mill and Hemant Mittal, Kunal Dhawan, Mukesh Dhawan and others of Sarwani Foods attended the meeting.
MLA Dr Gupta said that 410563 metric tonnes of Basmati has been purchased by sheller owners in Amritsar district. The payment for which has also been made to the farmers. Sheller owners have told that around 300 trucks of Basmati are being purchased every day.
MLA Dr Ajay Gupta said that while talking to the farmers in the market, the farmers told that they are not facing any kind of problem, whereas some farmers told about some problems, on which he directed the concerned officers to solve their problems immediately.
