Under the Har Shukarwar, Dengu te Vaar" campaign launched by the Punjab Government, Director Health and Family Welfare Dr Hitinder Kaur today supervised the door-to-door container survey at Phase 6 in Mohali. A district-level vigorous drive was carried out simultaneously from 8 am to 9 am in different parts of the district here today.

On the instructions of the Health and Family Welfare minister Dr Balbir Singh, the department had formed state-level 12 teams comprising senior health officials, who monitored the drive, along with the district officials. Dr. Hitinder Kaur went door-to-door at Phase 6 in Mohali to check potential breeding sites for mosquito larvae and also sensitized people about the symptoms, causes, prevention and treatment of dengue fever.

Dr Hitinder Kaur said that the purpose of the drive was to give a boost to the checking, spraying and awareness campaign to prevent the dengue fever cases. She said that the cooperation of the people is very much needed to fight the disease. Meanwhile, she addressed the students at Shivalik Public School, Phase 6 and urged them to spread the message regarding dengue prevention.

She took a promise from the students that they would check their homes every Friday and ensure that there was no standing water anywhere. The health teams asked people to not let water stagnate anywhere in and around their homes and other places. Everyone needs to take precautions to prevent this deadly disease.

If for some reason dengue fever occurs, there is no need to panic. The patient should visit a government health facility where dengue test and treatment is absolutely free. The health department's helpline number 104 can be contacted. They also said that self-medication should be avoided if dengue symptoms occur.

On this occasion, Deputy Director Dr Daljit Singh Pradesi, Civil Surgeon Dr Renu Singh, Assistant Director Dr Jasleen Virk, State Program Officer Dr Arshdeep Kaur, Dr Amritpal Warring, District Epidemiologist Dr Harmandeep Kaur, District Mass Media Officer Harcharan Singh Brar and other health officials were present.
