Amar Singh, who was contesting the elections as the Aam Aadmi Party candidate from the Nilokheri (reserved) seat, has joined the Congress today. At the party's headquarters in Chandigarh, in the presence of Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Amar Singh announced his entry into Congress.
Pratap Singh Bajwa formally inducted him into the party. Welcoming Amar Singh, Bajwa stated that he has joined the Congress unconditionally and has extended full support to Congress candidate Dharampal Gondar. Bajwa also mentioned that Amar Singh is highly popular within the Sikh community in Nilokheri and has been associated with the Guru Ghar (Sikh religious institution) for the past 25 years.
He further added that the Sikh voter population in Nilokheri is approximately 25,000.Speaking to the media, Amar Singh said that the current contest in Haryana is directly between Congress and the BJP. The same situation exists in Nilokheri.
He stated that the main goal at this moment is to rid the state of the BJP government, which has been unjust to farmers, women, Dalits, and minorities, and only Congress can achieve this. He added that had he continued contesting the election, it would have directly benefited the BJP.
To ensure that the vote is not divided, he is joining the Congress.On this occasion, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Media In-charge Keval Dhingra and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Legal Cell Chairman K.C. Bhatia also welcomed Amar Singh into the party.
