Kochi: Kerala has confirmed a second case of the disease in the state after an Ernakulam resident was diagnosed with Mpox, earlier known as monkeypox after he returned from the United Arab Emirates. With two cases reported in the state so far, it is a matter of concern and forces health officials to step up surveillance and preventive steps.

The most recent case of MPOX in India is a resident of Ernakulam who had symptoms similar to the viral infection and tested positive. The person is currently reported to be stable by a private hospital in the district. He is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
