The concerted efforts of the District Administration to replace the existing Dhakoli Railway Crossing with the Railway Under Bridge today bore fruit with the opening of tenders for it by the Railway.

Divulging the details after holding a visit to the site where Railway Under Pass have to come by next year, the deputy commissioner Aashika Jain said that after surpassing the first step of receiving tenders, now the Railway Authorities will take time to review the tender documents and its allocation to the successful bidder by going through the eligibility.

The construct is likely to be started by November she said adding that it would take another 9-10 months for completion. She added that the purpose of today’s visit was to assess the conditions related to the issuance of NOC for the elimination (replacing with RUP) process. She said that  

The last date for fulfilling all conditions to issue NOC is September 26.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that as per the suggestion of residents, the alternative route will be explored backside Krishna Enclave to Golden Sand. The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Powercom officials to shift the poles in the meantime for the smooth start of the project.

The deputy commissioner further said that the Railway underpass at Dhakoli crossing was needed of the hour to remove the traffic bottlenecks at Kalka-Ambala T point at Zirakpur. She said that the Punjab Government would bear half of the estimated amount of the construction Rs 13.70 Crore, already deposited with the Railways.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann and EO Ashok Kumar to complete the rest of the formalities related to the construction of the Railway Under Pass to permanently address the chronic problem of traffic jams on the Dhakoli crossing.

Interacting with the residents regarding their issues related to local administration she assured them of early disposal of the waste dump in the Mandi area and speeding up of CCTV installation to curb the crime rate.
