In a bid to promote environmental conservation and sustainable farming practices, the district administration of Fazilka, led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal and SSP Varinder Singh Brar, held meetings with farmers in three hotspot villages - Chakk Saido Ke, Ghangha, and Swaha Wala - to encourage them to refrain from burning crop residue.

Addressing the farmers, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal said, "Our farmers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of environmental conservation, and the number of stubble burning incidents is decreasing steadily." He appealed to the farmers to desist from burning crop residue, emphasizing the harmful effects on their health, soil fertility, and the environment.

Dr. Duggal further stated that the administration is committed to supporting farmers in managing crop residue sustainably. She announced that lists of machines provided by the government to villages would be displayed at common places, and shared facilities would be made available for storing crop residue.

SSP Varinder Singh Brar emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in protecting the environment and urged farmers to adopt sustainable practices. The meeting also saw the participation of Chief Agriculture Officer Fazilka, Sandeep Rinwa, and Chief Agriculture Officer Firozpur, Jangir Singh Gill, who provided information on post-harvest management of paddy crops.

The district administration's initiative aims to promote eco-friendly farming practices and reduce stubble burning incidents in the region.
