The Bhagwant Mann government, which came to power promising to represent the common man, has now revealed its true colours.This was stated Senior BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal while talking to newsmen here last night.
He expressed his strong disapproval of the government's decisions to raise taxes on diesel and petrol, as well as its withdrawal of electricity subsidies for households consuming 7 kilowatts or more.
Grewal taking aim at the Chief Minister, stated that while Bhagwant Mann once claimed to stand for the common man, his government's decisions to cut the 7-kilowatt household electricity subsidies have burdened the public with more taxes. Furthermore, the increase in petrol and diesel taxes has placed a double blow on both farmers and industries, worsening the economic situation for everyone.
The BJP leader condemned these actions, emphasizing that the reduction of electricity subsidies combined with the 91 paisa increase in petrol taxes and the 61 paisa rise in diesel VAT would severely impact the daily lives of ordinary people.
Grewal called on the Chief Minister to reduce government expenses instead of increasing the tax burden on the public, urging the state to adhere to its promises of economic reform and fiscal prudence through a V.I.P.-free system.
He further criticized the Mann government for draining Punjab's treasury, suggesting that while funds are being mismanaged in the state, the Aam Aadmi Party
