Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today appealed to the party’s former Gidderbaha halka incharge Hardeep Singh Dhillon to reconsider his decision to leave the SAD.
The SAD president, who interacted with a large number of party workers of Gidderbaha at his residence here, said false, fabricated and baseless rumours had been spread that BJP leader Manpreet Singh Badal would be fielded by the SAD from Gidderbaha in the forthcoming bye-elections.
Making it clear that the party meant everything to him, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “my commitment to the SAD and its ideals and principles is more than with my family. I want to make it clear that there was no doubt in my mind that Mr Hardeep Dhillon was the party’s candidate from Gidderbaha in the forthcoming bye-elections”.
Mr Badal said even if Dhillon had decided to turn his back on his party as well its cadre due to some personal interest then also the SAD would take a decision on its candidate from Gidderbaha after ten days. “We will wait for the estranged leader to give his final answer”. He also made it clear that any decision on the party’s candidate would be taken after detailed consultations with the party cadre of the constituency. “I am committed to go with the wishes of the ‘sangat’ from Gidderbaha and will perform my duties with utmost humility and determination”, Mr Badal added.
