In the series of these efforts to rectify the sewer system and storm Water pipeline in the city MLA Kulwant Singh gives a start to the project worth Rs. 02.62 crores for lying the new sewer lines and repairing the existing sewer system and the stormwater system from Phase -4 near Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Sahib. Near about 365 meters long sewer line would be laid in phase-04.

MLA Kulwant Singh inaugurated another project under which 135-meter-long sewer line would be laid on the dividing road of Phase-3B1 and Phase-3B2, especially for the shops in that section of the city. On this occasion, the MLA disclosed that the sewage of the city was entering the Lakhnaur Choe through the stormwater system due to the damaged stormwater system and the disfunctioning of sewerage lines.

To resolve this issue, the instructions were issued to the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation. In the survey conducted by the department, it was found that the main reason for this problem was broken sewerage pipes and some households had connected their private sewage with the stormwater pipeline.

After the complete analysis, this project was planned and now its execution has been started. Kulwant Singh further informed that in addition to the works started today the repair works of storm pipelines would be also started in the areas of Phase-3B1, 3B2, Phase-4, 5, 7, Sector-70, 71 and village Mataur.

With the completion of all these works, the sewer water of the said sectors/phases of the city would be diverted towards the STP and it would not enter the Lakhnaur Choe. MLA further said that the Punjab government led by CM Bhagwant Singh Maan is taking every step to raise the standard of living of Punjab residents.
