Multifaceted events, aligning with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, were today hosted by District Administration Kishtwar in collaboration with Social Welfare Department, Education Department, Health Department, Youth Services and Sports Department and GDC Kishtwar across the district.   

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking unfolded with the central theme, "The Evidence is Clear, Invest In Prevention" here in a main function at the GDC Auditorium, witnessing the active participation of esteemed individuals and organizations under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Zubair Ahmed.

Earlier, in a symbolic gesture, Deputy Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav flagged off the Nasha Mukt Express from the DC Office Complex besides flagging off another Campaign Van from Block headquarter Nagseni.

The Campaign express/vans will traverse across different blocks of the District, spreading awareness and fostering support for the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan. To engage the younger generation, a Painting Competition was organized at GDC Auditorium Kishtwar in which more than 20 students from different schools participated.

The Chief guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)  Pawan Kotwal, besides  District Social Welfare Officer  (DSWO)   Zubair Ahmed Lone, Nodal Officer ATF Dr. Harris, Medical Officer, Dr Nazir; College faculty  and others also graced the occasion.

Over 200 students and staff members of the different departments of GDC participated in the event. To emphasize the commitment towards this cause, a Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) Pledge was administered.Notably, a newly rehabilitated individual shared  events of his journey from drug addiction to drug de-addiction which was highly appreciated by the audience.

A captivating debate, with speakers and students shedding light on the drug menace was the major highlight of the event. The speakers highlighted the crucial role of different stakeholders such as the administration, civil society, parents, schools, and religious organizations in raising awareness and combating drug trafficking. A  Nukkad Natak(Skit) by the students of New Era Public School  further enlightened the audience.Additional Deputy Commissioner and DSWO   threw  light on the measures taken by civil administration for combating the menace in the district. 

A special felicitation session was conducted to honor and acknowledge the active participation of all the attendees.Similar events including painting, debate and rally and pledges were also conducted at SD Chatroo and Paddar  under the supervision of respective SDMs. 

In conjunction with these activities, a rally and pledge ceremony were held at the Tehsil Headquarters Chatroo, demonstrating the unity and determination of the local populace to eradicate substance abuse from their community.Special parent-teacher meetings and pledge ceremonies were organised in all the government and Private educational institutions.
