BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today demanded Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to clarify whether 10,000 Punjab Police personnel have been transferred because of their links with drug mafias or because they had helped the others party in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Demanding the chief minister's resignation on the matter, Chugh said it was highly "ïrresponsible" on the part of the chief minister for misleading Punjab on this serious matter.
Chugh said while DGP Punjab police has contradicted the stance of the chief minister and has said that the transfers were done in a routine manner and have nothing to with the drug mafias, some political leaders have claimed that the transfers have been done because the 10,000-strong police force did not help the AAM Aadmi Party in the Lok Sabha elections and instead supported the other political parties.
"Such insinuations against the police force would certainly go a long way in demoralizing the entire police force in the border state and for this the chief minister is singularly responsible", Chugh said. He said it was shocking to see the chief minister blame 10,000 policemen for their links with drug peddlers whereas the fact is that all drug mafias have been enjoying the patronage of the AAP government to run their business recklessly in the state.
Chugh said the chief minister should accept his moral responsibility for his failure to check drugs in the state.

भाजपा के राष्ट्रीय महासचिव तरुण चुघ ने आज मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान से यह स्पष्ट करने की मांग की कि क्या 10,000 पंजाब पुलिस कर्मियों का तबादला ड्रग माफियाओं से संबंधों के कारण किया गया है या हाल ही में हुए लोकसभा चुनावों में अन्य राजनैतिक दलों की मदद करने के कारण किया है। चुग ने इस मामले में मुख्यमंत्री के इस्तीफे की मांग करते हुए कहा कि इस गंभीर मामले में मुख्य मंत्री भगवंत मान ने पंजाब को गुमराह किया है,इसके लिए मुख्यमंत्री की ओर से ज़िम्मेदारी लेनी चाहिए।
चुघ ने कहा कि डीजीपी पंजाब पुलिस ने मुख्यमंत्री के रुख का खंडन करते हुए कहा है कि तबादले नियमित तरीके से किए गए थे और उनका ड्रग माफियाओं से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है, जबकि कुछ राजनीतिक नेताओं ने दावा किया है कि तबादले इसलिए किए गए हैं क्योंकि 10,000 पुलिसकर्मियों ने लोकसभा चुनावों में आम आदमी पार्टी की मदद नहीं की और इसके बजाय अन्य राजनीतिक दलों का समर्थन किया।
चुघ ने कहा, "पुलिस बल के खिलाफ इस तरह के आरोप निश्चित रूप से सीमावर्ती राज्य में पूरे पुलिस बल का मनोबल गिराने में सहायक होंगे और इसके लिए मुख्यमंत्री अकेले जिम्मेदार हैं।" उन्होंने कहा कि यह देखना चौंकाने वाला है कि मुख्यमंत्री ने 10,000 पुलिसकर्मियों पर ड्रग तस्करों के साथ संबंधों का आरोप लगाया है, जबकि सच्चाई यह है कि सभी ड्रग माफिया राज्य में अपने कारोबार को बेखौफ चलाने के लिए आप सरकार के संरक्षण का आनंद ले रहे हैं।
चुघ ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री को राज्य में ड्रग्स पर लगाम लगाने में अपनी विफलता के लिए अपनी नैतिक जिम्मेदारी स्वीकार करनी चाहिए।
