In consonance with Punjab CM’s vigorous campaign to eradicate drugs menace from the state, the Jagraon police under the leadership of Mr. Parminder Singh, SP(D) in close cooperation with the area's youth organized basketball matches at Arjuna Awardee Gurdial Singh Malhi Stadium at Village Gurreh in association with District Basketball Association, Ludhiana.
Dhanpreet Kaur IPS DIG Ludhiana Range presided where Mr Navneet Bains, IPS, SSP (Rural) was also present. All the senior police officers resolved their commitment to wipe out drug scourge in the area by involving youth with such positive interventions. Mr Teja Singh Dhaliwal, present on the occasion spoke high of the good initiative of Jagraon police.
The chief guest distributed trophies, medals and cash prizes as arranged by Jagraon police for the participating teams of boys and girls. On this occasion an informative booklet prepared by District Basketball Association treasurer Brij Goyal ,’Say Yes To Sports & No To Drugs’ was also distributed .
Prof. Rajinder Singh, a sports teacher, spoke about the ill effects of drugs. Others present on the occasion were Veerpal Singh Dhillon , Avtar Singh Malhi, Sarpanch Malwinder Singh, Bibi Gurbachan Kaur, Balwant Sngh and many other prominent person from the village.
Basketball coaches Rajinder Singh, Jaipal Singh , Sukhwinder Singh, Narinder Pal and woman coach Saloni accompanied the basketball players which comprised many national level and international players too. Parminder Singh SP ( D) thanked the participants and the spectators for this spectacular sporting event which inspires youth. The chief guest also praised the beautiful maintenance of the village sports stadium.
