Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Sandeep Garg on Saturday evening thanked the voters, polling and security staff, BLOs, ASHA and Anaganwadi Workers, Volunteers and political parties for fulsome cooperation in organizing free, fair and peaceful assembly elections.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that about 5000 personnel from civil administration worked day and night to make the polling a success. Besides, 825 polling parties having four members each, deputation of BLOs, ASHA and Anganwadi Workers and supporting staff from other departments were put on election duty, added Deputy Commissioner.
SSP Dr Sandip Garg added that about 4000 police personnel including 600 from state police and 9 Companies of Para Military remained at the forefront during the last 72 hours to keep the law and order intact. About 60 Nakas on the Inter-state and Inter-district were installed besides regular patrolling by 150 police parties that contributed to the free, fair and transparent elections, he said.
The Deputy Commissioner and SSP kept a vigil over the entire polling exercise and also visited several polling booths. They also expressed their gratitude towards the residents of the district for once again upholding the glorious tradition of exercising their franchise freely by calling their votes without any fear.
They said that peaceful turn out by the voters for exercising their franchise reflects the enthusiasm of people for their right to vote.Aashika Jain and Dr Sandip Garg said that polling was largely peaceful and there was no report of any untoward incident from any polling booth in the district. They said that no incident of violence was reported during the voting.
