Kharar , 26 May 2024

Congress candidate from Shri Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, Vijay Inder Singla, said that Punjab's farmer feeds the whole nation, but it is unfortunate that when he protests for his demands, the Modi and Khattar governments shoot at his chest. Both the central and state governments have completely failed to protect the interests of Punjab's farmers.

The Congress party guarantees farmers the minimum support price (MSP) and will not tolerate any disrespect towards them or allow any harm to their interests. On Saturday, Vijay Inder Singla was addressing public meetings in Machhli Kalan, Jandpur, Sahauran, Badali, Tevar, Dhakoran Kalan, Mullapur Garibdass, Milak, Nawagaon, Kurali, Khanpur, Kharar, and Sunny Enclave in Kharar.

He said they have special plans for agricultural reform, will empower farmers, and lead them towards crop diversification to increase their income. They will provide electricity during the day so that farmers can irrigate their crops on time without any trouble, as currently, they have to stay up at night to water their fields.

Additionally, they will help farmers escape the debt trap, as many farmers are forced to commit suicide due to debt.Vijay Inder Singla noted that Punjab has maintained its top position in contributing food grains to the national pool, with 124.2 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procured from Punjab by May 24, which is 47.29% of the total wheat procured nationwide.

Despite this, the Modi government at the center has insulted Punjab's farmers instead of respecting them. They hammered nails into roads to prevent peaceful protests by farmers in Delhi. Now, in this election, farmers will teach these anti-farmer political parties a lesson with their votes.

Vijay Inder Singla emphasized that today we are not providing even basic facilities to farmers. Farmers need advanced seeds, fertilizers, and water on time, but they have to struggle for these as well. The Modi government forgives the debts of moneylenders but cannot forgive the debts of farmers.

The Bhagwant Mann government spends crores on advertisements but cannot provide any relief to farmers. Recently, I was reading a report from an agricultural university, which stated that the cost of production for farmers is higher than the price they get for their crops.

This leads to losses right from the start. Politics is played in the name of farmers, but our party has given it in writing that as soon as we come to power, we will provide the minimum support price to farmers and solve all their problems.

Our national leader Rahul Gandhi has a special affection for farmers and understands their pain well. He has met farmers several times and shared his thoughts with them. We will change the fate of farmers, so there is no need for them to worry.

On this occasion, a large number of farmers attended his programs and told Vijay Inder Singla that he is the first person to talk to farmers so sincerely, so they assured him of their support in large numbers. Local Congress leaders, village sarpanches, and panchs were also present on this occasion.
