The wheat procurement season is in full swing. Despite various obstacles at the ground level, the district administration is trying hard to ensure that the procurement process continues smoothly and that the farmers do not have to be disturbed in the markets in any way.  At present, where the arrival of wheat has increased in the markets of district Moga, there has also been a rapid increase in purchase, payment, and lifting.

Farmers are being made free timely from mandies. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh visited many mandies including the main grain market in Moga today and informed that till now the arrival of 409558 metric tons of wheat has been recorded in the district markets.

Out of which 374195 metric tons have been purchased and 161879 metric tons have been lifted. The payment of the purchased wheat has to be done by the administration in 48 hours, but this payment is being done by the district administration in less than 24 hours.

As against Rs 491.77 crore in district Moga, Rs 652.68 crore has been disbursed so far. That of the total payment is 132.72 percent. While clarifying the situation about lifting, he said that this year compared to the previous years, due to the simultaneous acceleration of the season, a situation of lifting had arisen in the mandis, but now the situation is completely under control.

Now more than 30 thousand metric tons are being lifted daily, which is much more than the previous year's record of 27287 metric tons.  4000 metric tons of wheat are being delivered daily by the administration despite the Aarhti community not sending wheat directly to the Adani silo this time.

During the previous seasons, this rate used to be more than 10 thousand metric tons but the district administration is constantly trying to bridge this gap. On the other hand, there are only 2 railway stations in district Moga, from where wheat can be sent by special trains.

These specials are being offered continuously.  It is to be specially mentioned here that the arrival of fertilizer has also started for the farmers keeping in mind the upcoming paddy planting season.  Because after the harvesting of wheat, farmers have to start demanding fertilizer at the same time.

In such a situation, fertilizer rakes are being taken by the district administration. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh has appealed to the farmers to have faith in the Punjab government.

They will not be allowed to be harassed in the mandies under any circumstances. Lifting will reach 100 percent in the next one or two days in district Moga.  6.94 lakh metric tonnes of wheat are expected to arrive in the mandies of district Moga. So far more than 61 percent has arrived.

He congratulated farmers that this year the yield is more than in previous years.  Along with this, the quality of grain is also good.  On this occasion, he also interacted with farmers, farmers, and laborers.
