The Public Works and Power Minister, Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO, laid the foundation stone for the defense road strengthening project in Seeto Gunno today. The project aims to enhance the main road connecting Balluana constituency from Malout to the Rajasthan border. Joining him in this momentous occasion was MLA Mr. Amandeep Singh Goldi Musafir.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure for the benefit of the people. The renovation of this road, with an investment of ₹17.69 crores, will significantly enhance transportation facilities for residents of approximately two dozen villages in the Balluana area. Moreover, it will strengthen the road connectivity between Punjab and Rajasthan.
Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO highlighted the transparent approach adopted by the state government in executing departmental works. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Public Works Department has achieved substantial savings of 20 percent compared to the mere 3 percent during previous governments. This shift reflects the government’s dedication to utilizing public funds for the welfare of the people, he added.
Furthermore, Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO emphasized that the state treasury, once used for self-interest by previous governments, is now directed toward the betterment of Punjab’s citizens. The government’s commitment extends beyond infrastructure projects, with initiatives such as the establishment of 829 Aam Aadmi Clinics. “Additionally, following the success of the School of Eminence, the government has allocated funds to establish the School of Brilliance, the School of Applied Learning, and the School of Happiness.
Furthermore, significant progress has been made in ensuring water reaches the tail ends of the canals. To enhance road safety, the formation of a Sarak Surkhya Force has been implemented, and illegal encroachments have been successfully removed”, said the PWD Minister. Earlier, MLA Amandeep Singh Goldi Musafir, representing the Balluana Constituency, extended a warm welcome to the Cabinet Minister. He highlighted that the state government is currently undertaking development projects valued at approximately ₹800 crore within the Balluana constituency.
Remarkably, this marks the first instance where any government has initiated such an extensive scale of development work in this constituency, he added.
