In a significant crackdown on corruption within the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has apprehended Rajesh Kumar, a lineman employed at the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) office in Umarpura, Batala, Gurdaspur district. Kumar was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000 for the installation of a transformer, a crucial service purportedly promised to a local farmer.
This arrest was made possible following an online complaint lodged by Manjinder Singh, a resident of Sangatpura village in Batala, through the Chief Minister's Anti Corruption Action Line. Singh's grievance detailed his unsuccessful attempts to secure a new transformer for his tubewell connection, a necessity for irrigating his family-owned agricultural land.
Despite paying the demanded sum to Kumar, the installation was never completed.The vigilance bureau initiated an inquiry into Singh's complaint, which included a recorded conversation between him and Kumar that served as key evidence in the case. The investigation corroborated the allegations against Kumar, leading to his arrest under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The spokesperson for the Punjab Vigilance Bureau confirmed that the FIR had been registered and that Kumar was taken into custody. The bureau has emphasized its ongoing commitment to eradicating corruption and has assured that further investigations are underway to thoroughly examine the case.
This incident underscores the broader efforts by Punjab authorities to tackle corruption and improve the transparency and accountability of public services in the state.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਜੀਲੈਂਸ ਬਿਊਰੋ ਨੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਚਾਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਚਲਾਈ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਪੀ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ.ਸੀ.ਐਲ. ਦਫਤਰ, ਉਮਰਪੁਰਾ, ਬਲਾਕ ਬਟਾਲਾ, ਜ਼ਿਲਾ ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਲਾਈਨਮੈਨ ਰਾਜੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ 40,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਹੇਠ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਰਾਜ ਵਿਜੀਲੈਂਸ ਬਿਓਰੋ ਦੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਪਰੋਕਤ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਿੰਡ ਸੰਗਤਪੁਰਾ, ਤਹਿਸੀਲ ਬਟਾਲਾ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਵਸਨੀਕ ਮਨਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਚਾਰ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਐਕਸ਼ਨ ਲਾਈਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਗਈ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ 'ਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਉਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਕਰਤਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਸੰਗਤਪੁਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਹੀਯੋਗ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਟਿਊਬਵੈੱਲ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਕੁਨੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਲਈ ਨਵਾਂ ਟਰਾਂਸਫਾਰਮਰ ਲਗਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਉਪਰੋਕਤ ਰਾਜੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਲਾਈਨਮੈਨ ਨੇ 40,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਟਰਾਂਸਫਾਰਮਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਾਇਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਕਰਤਾ ਨੇ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਬੂਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਿਜੀਲੈਂਸ ਬਿਊਰੋ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਵਿਜੀਲੈਂਸ ਬਿਊਰੋ ਰੇਂਜ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਦੋਸ਼ ਸਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚ ਪਾਏ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਕਥਿਤ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਰਾਜੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਲਾਈਨਮੈਨ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਚਾਰ ਰੋਕੂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ 7 ਤਹਿਤ ਪਰਚਾ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕੇਸ ਦੀ ਅਗਲੇਰੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
ट्रांसफार्मर लगाने के लिए 40 हजार रुपये रिश्वत लेने वाला लाइनमैन विजिलेंस ब्यूरो के हत्थे चढ़ा

पंजाब विजीलैंस ब्यूरो द्वारा राज्य में चलाए गए भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी अभियान के दौरान पी.एस.पी.सी.एल. कार्यालय, उमरपुरा, ब्लॉक बटाला, जिला गुरदासपुर में तैनात लाइनमैन राजेश कुमार को 40,000 रुपये की रिश्वत लेने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। इस संबंध में जानकारी देते हुए राज्य सतर्कता ब्यूरो के आधिकारिक प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि उपरोक्त आरोपी को मनजिंदर सिंह, निवासी गांव संगतपुरा, तहसील बटाला, जिला गुरदासपुर द्वारा मुख्यमंत्री भ्रष्टाचार विरोधी एक्शन लाइन पर दायर की गई ऑनलाइन शिकायत के आधार पर गिरफ्तार किया गया है।
उन्होंने आगे बताया कि शिकायतकर्ता ने अपनी शिकायत में आरोप लगाया कि वह गांव संगतपुरा में कृषि भूमि का मालिक है, जहां उसे अपने ट्यूबवेल के नए कनेक्शन के लिए नया ट्रांसफार्मर लगाना था। इस संबंध में उक्त राजेश कुमार लाइनमैन ने 40 हजार रुपये की रिश्वत ली, लेकिन ट्रांसफार्मर नहीं लगाया। जब बिजली अधिकारी रिश्वत की मांग कर रहा था, तो शिकायतकर्ता ने बातचीत को रिकॉर्ड कर लिया और सबूत के तौर पर विजिलेंस ब्यूरो को सौंप दिया।
विजिलेंस ब्यूरो रेंज अमृतसर ने शिकायत की जांच की, जिसके दौरान आरोप सही और सत्य पाए गए। इस संबंध में कथित आरोपी राजेश कुमार लाइनमैन के खिलाफ भ्रष्टाचार निवारण अधिनियम की धारा 7 के तहत उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस मामले की आगे की जांच जारी है।
