In protest against the murder of democracy by BJP in the elections of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor for Chandigarh Municipal Corporation held on January 30, AAP Chandigarh organized a candle march from Sector 22 Aroma Hotel to Sector 23 today, nullifying the 8 votes cast by BJP's nominated councilor and sitting officer Anil Masih and councilors for AAP and Congress' mayoral candidate Kuldeep Kumar.
Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Chairman and co-incharge AAP Chandigarh Dr. S.S. Ahluwalia, senior leader Meena Sharma, Abha Bansal, Sukhraj Sandhu, councilors Kuldeep Kumar, Jasvir Singh Ladi, Damanpreet Singh, Ramchandra Yadav, Prem Lata, Manovar, Suman Sharma, Jasvinder Kaur, Neha Musavat, and Yogesh Dhingra, along with a large number of volunteers participated in the march.
Dr. S.S. Ahluwalia said on the occasion that the murder of democracy committed by Anil Masih and his councilors in the municipal elections held on January 30 by the BJP. Today, this candle march has been organized to punish the culprits, in which a large number of city residents are participating. He said that BJP has forcibly installed its mayor in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, which is unacceptable to the people of Chandigarh.
He further said that they would organize candle marches in different sectors of Chandigarh every day until the murderers of democracy are punished. The city's residents are now fully aware of BJP's dark deeds. For several years, BJP has been wrongfully installing its mayor in the municipal corporation, but now the city residents will not tolerate it.
