Indus Public School, Kharar, reigned supreme at a recent state-level inter-school competition, bagging the coveted Overall Trophy and showcasing its environmental prowess. The school swept across various categories, dominating workshops, exhibitions, collage making, quizzes, poster presentations, and story writing competitions.
Held at Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, the two-day event was part of the 2023-24 Environment Education Program and drew participation from 27 schools and 400 enthusiastic students. Sponsored by the Council of Science and Technology, Chandigarh, and organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, the competition centered around the theme "Nature."
Students actively engaged in workshops, exhibitions, creative expression through collages and posters, knowledge-testing quizzes, and storytelling, all focused on environmental conservation. The topics spanned a wide range, from climate change solutions to energy conservation and plastic pollution, challenging participants to showcase their understanding of critical environmental issues.
An online segment further extended the competition with activities like "Just a Minute" speeches promoting energy conservation, essay writing, and video productions. It was in this diverse arena that Indus Public School truly shone, emerging victorious in all categories and clinching the prestigious Overall Trophy.
School Director Colonel (Ret.) SPS Cheema and Principal Parampreet Kaur Cheema applauded the students' exceptional achievement. Director Cheema lauded the state and central government bodies for organizing the impactful event, highlighting its role in fostering environmental awareness, encouraging active participation in conservation efforts, and providing a platform for students' creativity and innovative solutions.
