In a heartfelt tribute to the late cricket prodigy Sh. Dhruve Pandove, the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Trust organized its annual blood donation camp today, on the 30th of January, 2024. Established in memory of the remarkable young cricketer, whose promising career was tragically cut short in a road accident at Ambala on January 30th, 1992, the trust conducts this noble event every year.
Sh. Dhruve Pandove, an exceptional cricketer, made his mark in the Ranji Trophy Tournament for Punjab at the tender age of fourteen. His achievements included becoming the youngest player to score a century and 1000 first-class runs. He shared the field with cricket luminaries like Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguli, Anil Kumble, J Shri Nath, Vinod Kambli, Ajay Jadeja, and Rahul Dravid, all representing the India youth team that clinched the Asia Cup.
Dhruve Pandove, a left-handed opening batsman and a proficient right-hand leg-spin bowler, consistently emerged as the top run-scorer. His promising career was tragically cut short, robbing India of a potential cricket star. The blood donation camp, held annually in his memory, saw an impressive turnout of over a hundred sports enthusiasts and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
The event was graced by Smt. Preneet Kaur, Member of Parliament from Patiala, who inaugurated the blood donation camp. Attendees from various walks of life, including a significant number of sports personalities, participated in the noble cause. The trust, in addition to organizing the blood donation drive, extends support to needy cricketers and individuals associated with the game.
The annual blood donation camp serves as a poignant reminder of Dhruve Pandove's legacy, uniting sports enthusiasts and community members in a shared commitment to giving back to society.
