Nazim Zai chairs public outreach programme in Ganderbal

Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DDMRRR), Nazim Zai Khan, today visited Ganderbal and chaired a public outreach programme here at Mini Secretariat to take stock of issues and concerns of common masses. DDC Vice Chairperson Ganderbal, Bilal Ahmad, ADDC Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, ADC, Gulzar Ahmad, ASP Ganderbal besides heads of various government departments including Revenue, Power, Health, Education, Public Works, FCS&CA, Agriculture and allied departments, were present on the occasion to address the concerns specific to their respective sectors.

On the occasion, PRI representatives raised several concerns and development issues pertaining to their areas including better road and mobile connectivity at Baba Daryadin, early commissioning of lift irrigation in Chountwaliwar area, early commissioning of Chattergul Bala Water Supply Scheme, completion of new building for PHC Wakura, additional accommodation for Higher Secondary School Wakura, development of ground at Phelipora, widening of several roads,  removal of encroachments and other issues concerning common masses.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary said that holding public outreach programme reflects the ongoing efforts of the government to bridge the gap between administration and people by way of interacting directly with the locals, addressing their concerns and gathering valuable feedback on various developmental projects.

While replying to the issues, Nazim Zai underscored the significance of public outreach camps saying that these gatherings provide a platform for citizens to voice their grievances and for the Government to expedite their resolution through the appropriate channels. He gave necessary instructions to the concerned departments for resolving the issues at an earliest under their competence.

Encouraging PRI representatives to actively contribute ideas and suggestions, he stressed shared responsibility for progress. He urged them to safeguard state land in their Panchayats from illegal encroachment. Reaffirming Government’s commitment towards development and welfare of the people, the Secretary assured the participants that their concerns would be thoroughly examined and redressed in a time bound manner.

He also impressed upon the government officials to remain accessible to the public and fixed timelines for completion of various vital development projects in the district. The Secretary also presented the cheque of Rs 1,12,57000 among the beneficiaries under Education Assistance Scheme of J&K Building and other construction workers Act.
