District Administration Kathua observed Armed Forces Flag Day with patriotic zeal and fervor. The office bearers of Zila Sainik Welfare Board, Kathua formally pinned Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas with Flag. Speaking on the occasion, the DC said “We have to respect brave soldiers all the time besides taking initiative for the welfare of families of ex-servicemen & martyrs.”
He urged the countrymen to contribute generously towards the Armed Forces Flag Day fund and support the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. He said invaluable sacrifices of the defence forces cannot be repaid, but we must strive hard to look after them in their hour of need.
The Nation cannot forget the supreme sacrifices, dedication to duty and maintaining an eternal watch to safeguard the frontiers of the country made by our soldiers during the course of duty while serving the motherland. He appealed to the officers/officials of the department to contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day.On the occasion, students of various schools were present and some of them recited poems on patriotic themes as a tribute to the members of the Armed Forces.
To mark the occasion, the District and Sectoral Officers, officials of different departments pinned the token Flag and donated it for the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. The fund raising exercise was carried out by NCC cadets, school children, Ex-servicemen and officials of Zila Sainik Welfare Board, Kathua.
