In a major development to pave the way for the setting up of Punjab Fire Training Institute at Lalru, the Price and Rent Fixation Committee led by Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain approved the lease money in the presence of Derabassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa, here, today. MLA Randhawa while pushing up the cases of Sub Tehsil Complex at Zirakpur and Degree College at Banur, asked the Deputy Commissioner to take a final call on these two public interest pending issues too.
He said that as per the commitment of Punjab Chief Minsiter, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government had been taking strides for infrastructural development and betterment of Derabassi Constituency. The committee also gave consent to approve the lease money for the proposed 20 Verka booth sites in Zirakpur, Banur, Kurali and Derabassi. MLA Randhawa said that the project which was brainchild of Punjab Chief Minister to boost cooperation movement would also open the avenues of self employement for the youth.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the 20 acres site for setting up of Punjab Fire Training Institute at Lalru would fetch dedicated annual income to the Urban Local Body of Lalru with an annual enhancement of five percent each year. The lease money had been decided as per the formula set by the Local Government Department. She said that the case pertaining to decide the lease money for the site for Sub Tehsil Complex would be sent to the Punjab Government for final take.
Similarly, the issue of deciding lease money for proposed site for setting up a degree college at Banur was also taken in the meeting and soon it will be decided. She said that the lease money decided by the Price and Rent Fixation Committee, SAS Nagar, would ensure a dedicated source of income for the urban local bodies also. The officers who attended the meeting included ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann, EOs and Presidents of the MCs.
