As part of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today received revered Amrit Kalashs collected from blocks and Municipal headquarters across the district in a grand Amrit Kalash Yatra function held here at Govt Degree College Baramulla.

The function was attended by the President Municipal Council Baramulla, Umar Azhar Kakroo, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Municipal and Block heads, and a huge gathering of participants from diverse sections of the society.

In a display of unity and reverence, the respective heads ceremoniously presented the Kalashs from their respective blocks and municipalities to the DC. The soil and rice collected were amalgamated into a single Kalash, which is slated for transportation to the national capital, where it will find its revered resting place in Amrit Vatika.

At the outset, Dr. Sehrish administered Panch Pran Pledge to all the attendees, reinforcing their unwavering commitment to the cause of nation-building.The event was further embellished with captivating cultural performances, featuring school children and local artists, adding a vibrant touch to the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sehrish reiterated the underlying purpose of the campaign. She underscored the paramount importance of individual contributions and shared responsibility in the monumental task of nation-building.Pertinently, the Amrit Kalash Yatra will culminate on 30th October, 2023 in New Delhi where 7500 Amrit Kalashs collected across the states and UTs will find their resting place in Amrit Vatika, a gesture of homage to India’s valiant heroes.
