To pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi Ji on the eve of his 154th birth anniversary and as a part of National Campaign launched by Government of India under the banner “Garbage free India”, District Legal Services Authority, Samba organized different activities including Cleanliness drives in collaboration with Municipal Council Samba, Awareness Program on the topic “Minimizing waste generation, Encourage the reuse of materials & Recycling practices” and Awareness Rally at District Court Complex, Samba.The activities were conducted as per the directions of the JK Legal Services Authority (JKLSA) and under the effective leadership of Yesh Pal Kotwal, Chairman DLSA (also Principal District & Sessions Judge), Samba.
The Chairman DLSA, Samba was the Chief Guest at the Awareness Program. In his special address, he highlighted the importance of Gandhi Jayanti and the history behind Swachhta Divas/Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign (SHS) 2023. Rekha Kapoor Nischal , Secretary, DLSA, Samba presented the welcome address while vote of thanks was presented by Hitesh Sharma, Panel Advocate, DLSA, Samba. Dr. Vivek Sharma, Faculty member and students of Govt. High School, Nanak Chak, Samba also spoke on the occasionAt the end of the program, students were felicitated with the Participation Certificates by the Chief Guest.
Later, an awareness rally was also organized by DLSA, Samba which was flagged off by the Chief Guest from District Court Complex, in the presence of Judicial Officers, Prosecuting Officers, Panel Advocates, Faculty Members and students of Govt. High School, Nanak Chak, Samba.The rally marched to the main market of District Samba and culminated at Samba Fort.The objective of organizing this programmes was to generate Jan Andolan through community participation and also to give impetus to implementation of Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign (SHS) 2023, to disseminate the importance of Sampoorna Swachh Samba and to reinforce the concept of Sanitation as everyone’s business.
