The week long Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K campaign ended today here on a spirited note with all stakeholders vowing to eliminate corruption and promote transparent governance in Jammu and Kashmir UT.

Kathua Administration, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas, proactively organised 2024 activities from 4th to 10th of September with the active participation of PRIs to spread the message of observing zero tolerance against Corruption besides acquainting them about available legal framework and remedies to get rid of corrupt practices.

The week-long campaign featured a series of awareness events across the district with a focus on the promotion of transparent and accountable governance.Special Gram Sabhas, MC meetings and meetings with key stakeholders, including Self-Help Groups (SHGs), MGNREGA workers, farmers, students and citizens, were held to spread mass awareness about the significance of corruption free governance. These meetings also served as platforms to discuss and combat corruption at the grassroots level.

The quintessential aspect of the campaign was to raise awareness about IT-related initiatives, such as the "Empowerment-Janbhagidari Portal." which is playing a pivotal role in establishing a transparent system of governance as complete description of constituent level planning and expenditure is readily available on the portal.

The Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K campaign along with "Digital Literacy Week" were celebrated which has also portrayed how digital initiatives in government processes hold great significance in lowering down corrupt practices.

The campaign was given widespread publicity through print, electronic, and social media. Workshops and sensitization programs were conducted at the district level, Sub Divisional level, and Tehsil level to educate participants about anti-corruption policies and procedures.

To get a proper record of grievances and complaints, Feedback Forms were filled by the IT Department during the week-long campaign, a total of 645 such grievances and complaints were resolved on priority.

During the campaign, the educational institutions remained centre stage in bringing awareness on the menace of Corruption wherein activities like quizzes, debates, plays quiz, cartoon making, slogans, paintings, rangoli, and cultural events were held to engage the community in the fight against corruption.

The week-long campaign which had witnessed participation of over 1.30 lac people in Kathua ended on a promising note which will definitely pave the way for more transparent and corruption-free governance in Kathua district.
