Students will be the key Motivators for their parents for not to burn Paddy Stubble

In the paddy growing villages of Fazilka district, students will be the Brand ambesedors of District administration to motivate their parents and other farmers to not burn the paddy stubble in their respective villages. This information was shared by Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal while presiding over a meeting to start a big awareness campaign against paddy stubble burning in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner said that these students will be called environment friends who will motivate their parents and other farmers of the village not to burn paddy stubble. She said that burning of paddy stubble reduces the fertility of the land and causes a major environmental crisis which is fatal for every living thing on this earth. 

Therefore, this campaign is being started to make the farmer aware. The Deputy Commissioner said that four students named Environment Friends will be posted in all the villages for this. 

She said that parents will follow appeal of their own children to save environment. Deputy Commissioner further said that under the Learn and Grow programme, lectures would be conducted in all schools to create awareness about the harm of stubble burning and the available methods of stubble management. 

She said that the officials of the agriculture department will also educate the children about stubble management during this program along with giving career advice. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal also instructed that the experts of the Agriculture Department will organize camps in all the villages to inform the farmers about the techniques of the Punjab Agriculture University regarding the disposal of stubble without burning it.

SDM Mr. Akash Bansal, Agriculture Officer Mamata, Agriculture Engineer Kamal Goyal, Deputy District Education Officer Anju Sethi and other officials were present on this occasion.
