Bharatiya Janata Party, Punjab Vice President Jai Inder Kaur today handed over a memorandum to Patiala DC Sakshi Sawhney alleging political vendetta and high handedness of Aam Aadmi Government over cancelling of Smart Ration cards of over 5000 families.

Interacting with the media after handing over the memorandum Jai Inder Kaur said, "It was brought to my notice that the Punjab government had cancelled the Smart Ration cards of over 5000 families belonging to below poverty line strata over political vendetta.

The fault of these families was simply just being a supporter of opposition parties like the BJP, Akali Dal and Congress." She further said, "Today we have met the Deputy Commisioner to hand over a memorandum bringing to her attention the gross injustice being carried out in the district.

After the formation of Aam Aadmi Government in Punjab committees consisting 5 persons were constituted to review the cases of families to whom the Smart Ration Cards have been issued. This Committee was constituted without any legal force and consisted of persons only belonging to AAP while it should have had representatives of all the political parties."

The BJP leader further said, "Now, due to Political vendetta of the "AAM AADMI PARTY" Government, the Smart Ration Cards in respect of about 5000 families, who belong to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, SAD and other parties, have been cancelled by the department of Food and Civil Supply without following the procedure, which is against the Law of the land and which shows the high handedness of the AAP Government.

These families belong to the very poor Strata of society and they have been deprived of providing food relief being given in the form of Atta, Dal as per the scheme of the Centre/State Government free of cost." "By this Memorandum we have requested her to issue directions to the department of Food and Civil Supply at Patiala to restore the Smart Ration Cards immediately of these families, failing which we will hold massive protests against the government."

She further said. Jai Inder Kaur was accompanied by BJP Patiala leaders KK Malhotra, KK Sharma, Vijay Kuka, Atul Joshi, Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, Varinder Gupta and Anil Mangla.
