Under the Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Rahat Kosh Scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 1.5 lakh is given to the cancer patients in Punjab. Divulging the details, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahesh Kumar Ahuja said that the patient can submit their application along with all necessary documents at the Civil Surgeon Office, Phase 6.
He said that the beneficiary must be a resident of Punjab. If the beneficiary is below 20 years of age, he/she should submit a birth certificate along with the resident certificate of parents.
Sharing details about conditions for getting help, the Civil Surgeon said that the patient should be treated in the empanelled hospitals, including PGI. Chandigarh, Government Medical College of Chandigarh. Private hospitals like Max Hospital, IVY Hospital, Behgal Hospital in Mohali are also included in the list.
There should be a copy of the laboratory test attested by the doctor, to identify the cancer and two passport size photographs attested by the treating doctor. Apart from this, if the beneficiary belongs to SC, ST category, a certificate as proof may be submitted.
He also said that the financial assistance will not be given to the government employees. Apart from this, if a person is doing a private job and his/her ESI Fund is deducted, they also cannot get help.
Ayushman health insurance card holders are also not eligible for the scheme. The amount of financial assistance is sent to the concerned hospital only.
