HPKVN signs MoUs with 10 Sector Skill Councils

4000 seats are combined available for different free courses

Secretary Technical Education, Dr. Abhishek Jain informed here today that Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) has signed 10 new memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with various Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) to create better academic avenues for the youth of Himachal Pradesh.

These MoUs were signed between the Managing Director HPKVN, Jatin Lal and Representatives of 10 different SSCs. He said that Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s vision for Skilled Himachal encompasses various key aspects. 

Firstly, it focuses on identifying and addressing the skill gaps present in the current workforce, thereby ensuring that the skills being imparted align with industry requirements. This is crucial to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of skilled labour.

Governments' emphasis on skill training has led to the implementation of innovative programs and initiatives, he said adding that by collaborating with various SSCs and including educational institutions, industry experts, and government bodies, the state government has successfully created a conducive environment for skill development.

Speaking on the occasion, MD HPKVN, Jatin Lal said such collaborations were important and would aid in generating a talent pool in the State. This agreement will provide the candidates with unique opportunities to learn from the leading institutions in their respective fields.

More than 4000 seats are combined available for all these courses. The total cost of the courses will go around Rs. 15 crore. 

All these training programs are sponsored by the HPKVN and candidates need not to pay for these high value courses. Out of these 10 SSCs, Automotive Skills Development Council will provide training in three different job roles i.e. 

Four Wheeler Service Technician, Automotive Sales Consultant and Two Wheeler Service Technician. Handicraft & carpet SSC will provide five training programs including CAD Designer for Carpets, Wooden Toy Maker-Artisan, Upcycling Scraps and E- Waste Artisan, Traditional Soft Toy Maker and Ceramics Preparation Artisan.

Under the Media Sector Skill Council there are 4 job roles on offer including Animator, Graphic Designer, Editor and Sound Editor. MSME Technology Centre to provide skill training in two different job roles i.e. CNC Programming Lathe and PLC Programming and Microcontroller Programming.

There are 4 different training programs under Agriculture SSC, Horticulturist, Dairy Farmer Supervisor, Aquaculture Worker and Floriculturist. Logistic SSC will provide three training programs including Courier Associate Operations, Land Transportation Executive and Warehouse Executive.

Gem & Jewel SSC will provide training in Jewellery Designer, Jewellery Retail Sales Associate, Stone Fixer - Imitation Jewellery, Jewellery Appraiser and Valuer and Jewellery Frame and Component maker. There are four different job roles available under Sports SSC, Fitness Trainer, Life Guard Open Water, Self Defence Assistant and Self Defence Trainer. 

Capital Goods SSC will provide three different job roles on offer including Stud Welding Operator, Lab Technician- Metal Testing and Technician Instrumentation. Furniture & Fittings SSC will provide one training program “Assistant Carpenter Wooden Furniture”.
