It was a matter of pride that Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha has become first ever digital assembly in the whole Country to go high-tech and set up e-Vidhan system said Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh, who was invited by the Speaker Vidhan Sabha, B.B.L. Butail to the House today to get familiar with and know about the latest digital on-line system adopted by the house.“Time has come when we all need to adopt and learn the digital technology to keep going with the present times and fast changing trends of Modern world” remarked the Chief Minister adding that besides celebrating its golden jubilee celebrations in 2013 it also was a witness of historic decision to give Right to Vote to Indian Women in 1925, when a resolution moved by  Motilal Nehru and endorsed by Lala Lajpat Rai, was adopted unanimously by the assembly, then known as the Council Chamber. 

Chief Minister said that he was happy to learn that the coming monsoon session of the assembly would be fully digital and there would be no manual paper laying in the house. He said the communication between secretaries and Ministers would also be online besides video conferencing, digital video recording and web streaming.The Speaker apprised the Chief Minister of the latest technology and said that the e-Vidhan project is a joint Venture of HP State Legislative Assembly, National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI) and Government of Himachal Pradesh which was sanctioned by Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India. The project costs Rs. 8.12 crore and NICSI, New Delhi is a technical Agency for implementing the same.He said that there exists a facility of e-voting on an event by using touch screen and the facility of  digital recording of start and end time of all events and members in discussion. It would be also shown on LEDs in the house and laptops fixed to the seats of house members and as many as 73 laptops.A training room and e-facilitation centre for providing various services to the house members has been set up and training will be imparted to all house members and officials of secretariat before the monsoon session of Vidhan Sabha said the speaker.
