Waris Punjab De group leader and activist Amritpal Singh has been on the run since 18 March 2023. Police had launched a massive search operation to chase him due to which the internet had also been shut down in some areas of Punjab to maintain peace. But now the government has cracked down on Amritpal Singh.
Recently, the government has issued a non-bailable warrant against Amritpal Singh today and said that Amritpal has neither been arrested nor detained as of now. Amritsar Police approached the court to secure the warrant. This NBW has been issued against him due to the 6 FIR’s which are pending against him which include serious charges including arms act. NSA (National Security Force) was also imposed on Amritpal Singh on 18 March. He has not been caught yet but his colleagues have been caught and arrested by the police.
Many raids are being conducted in the sensitive areas by the Punjab police so as to arrest Amritpal Singh and eight teams of NIA have reached Punjab and started investigation in several districts including Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar.
NSA has been imposed on Daljit Singh Kalsi, Basant Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Bhagwant Singh Bajeka, Amritpal’s uncle Harjit Singh and they are shifted to Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail.
