With First Batch Starting Next Month, Over 500 Youngsters To Get Skill Training Annually From Experts Of Sports Industry In Jalandhar

Over 500 youngsters to get skill training every year with respect to sports industry at the new multi-skill development center being set up here at Kapurthala Road, Jalandhar with Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh on Friday visited the premises to review the progress of this project. 

The deputy commissioner said that the first batch of nearly 200 students to be started here from next month as the setting up of this center is expected to be completed by the end of this month wherein skill training pertaining to sports industry would be given by the experts of the industry.

Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government has signed an MOU with Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Excellence (SGMEA), an organization of sports industry, to provide skill development training to youngsters under Punjab Skill Development Mission.

The DC further mentioned that under this initiative, the first batch of training sessions would be started next month to provide hands-on training with respect to manufacturing of gloves and apparels, machine stitched balls, hand stitched balls, bags, and accessories, and cricket balls.

After the successful training, the participants would get employment opportunities in the leading sports industries in Jalandhar to start their career, he said adding the aspiring candidates can enroll themselves at https://forms.gle/Yo2aAAM5ExrkZxxa8. He said that this training would be providing the latest skill training comprising understanding of this highly competitive market.Mr. Singh further said that any one aged between 18 and 45 having qualification 10th pass and above may enroll for this course.

Reiterating his firm commitment to providing ample employment and skill development opportunities to unemployed youths, the deputy commissioner further said that the district administration is making concerted efforts in this direction and sought people's support and coordination to make this mission a huge success in Jalandhar.Notably, Jalandhar is known for its sports industry in the world which holds huge potential to open new avenues of employment for the youth.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner also visited the multi-skill development center where he met the participants of the sewing machine operator course and took their valuable feedback to further improve the program. The participants apprised the DC that they had been receiving the training at this center to handle heavy duty latest sewing machines which are used by the industry.
