From the latest news, there has been a blast in the Peshawar Mosque of Pakistan on Monday around 1:40 pm. The blast took place after the Zuhr prayers in the afternoon. Rescue teams have been sent to the spot and security forces have also been dispatched. The mosque is located in the Police line area of Peshawar.
At least 90 people were injured in the blast and 17 have been reported dead as of now. The injured have been sent and admitted to the Lady Reading Hospital of Peshawar. Their treatment is still going on and many are in critical condition. A portion of the building also collapsed due to the explosion and some people are believed to be buried under it. Mohammad Asim, a spokesperson of the hospital, said that “We have received dead bodies. It's an emergency situation," also said that the persons are still being brought to the hospital and many are in critical condition.
It has been reported that the suicide bomber exploded his suicide vest when the people including worshippers, policemen, and many locals were praying inside the mosque. An officer named Meena Gul survived the attack and spoke about the incident and said that he does not even know how he survived the incident unhurt. He also said that he could hear the screams and cries after the bomb exploded and also there were more than 150 people inside the mosque at the time of the incident, he added.
Emergency has also been imposed in that area and has been blocked by the officials. It is still not confirmed whether it is a suicide bomb attack or whether someone else planted a bomb at the mosque. It is not the first time that such incidents have taken place before this many blasts have happened.
