Bollywood is one of the most popular industries in Bollywood, and people around the world are well aware of its inventiveness. It is said that the Bollywood industry has done its all to delight its fans. after two years of global lockdown during which everyone was confined to their homes. Everything that once bothered our minds has now been conquered by the world. The only thing left to combat the outside hostility at that crucial moment of the lockdown was this world of amusement.
Here are some reasons why Hindi cinema’s audience is declining continuously:
Bollywood can now be said that it is quite good, now the competition in this industry has risen, because of the OTT platforms. There are some Over Top Platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, Alt Balaji, MX Player, Zee 5, and many more. These platforms have moulded the viewpoint of watching movies and series. Because of these OTT platforms, the availability of enormous varieties in one platform has increased the demand for OTT platforms. On the other hand, they can easily find anything they want to watch.
In Bollywood, One thing which is seen many times is repositioning. The Bollywood industry picks one thing and then stretches it too much on its peak. Similarly, Bollywood is focusing on biopics and some religious concepts so that they can connect the audience to the name of Patriotic movies. So these are some things that Bollywood is trying to do. But the audience now understands all these conspiracies very well. The movies have a repetitive concept. Many times a single concept of the movies has been moulded which is now becoming one more reason for not getting more attention.
- Unaffordable Prices Of Tickets:
Watching movies in theatres is a craze among the audience. Once upon a time when people hugely jammed in the cinema halls and watched movies with their friends and families. At that time tickets were also available at cheap prices and people also had a lot of time to go to the cinema halls and watch them. But if we talk about today's scenario then, it has changed at a huge level. Now people don’t prefer to visit Theatres much. They depend on the OTT platforms because they will watch in the theatre, with the same cost as the number of varieties they can afford in the OTT Platforms. So the Unaffordable prices of the tickets are also the main cause. At the time of Cinema Day which falls on 23 September 2022. The tickets were sold at the price of one-third of the usual tickets. The price of the tickets at that time fell to Rs 100 along with this mega project of Bollywood Bramastara starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt Kapoor. Because after watching so many low prizes this strategy attracts the audience towards the theatres which helped the Cinema halls to collect good earnings. During that whole week of Cinema day, the price of the tickets was low.

The declining audience’s interest in Hindi Cinema has also another reason for there to be clashes between the movies. If two movies and two events are organised on the same date and on the same day then it causes issues and problems for the public about which one should they prefer first. An example of the movie clashes was also seen this year. That is Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan. On August 11th, 2022, Vikram Vedha, Ponniyin Selvan, Thank God, and Ram Setu.
Bollywood has now completed ninety years of cinema. Also after watching movies and films for this long period of time. The audience has now evolved and now the taste of the viewers changed. The audience has now started exploring all the fields. Different industries whether it is Tollywood, Bollywood, Kollywood, and Hollywood. After watching so many varieties now they want something new from their own industry. Also, the audience can quickly assume that concept from where it was taken. So audiences now become very smart.
Decreasing interest and viewership of Hindi cinema has many reasons as we have already discussed above. But the reason which makes headlines daily is the Boycott trend. This trend started a few years ago. After the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, the trend to Boycott Bollywood started trending with more speed. Now, this has become the fashion to boycott.
So these are some reasons why the decline of Bollywood is increasing. And if Bollywood genuinely wants to overcome these failures then it should avoid all these factors.
