Punjab Chief Secretary Directs To Resolve Issues Faced By Compressed Biogas And Biomass Power Project Developers And Industrialists

Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua today presided over an important meeting with the developers of Compressed Biogas (CBG) Projects, Biomass Power Projects, Bio-ethanol and Industrialist using paddy straw in their industries. 

He said that the developers/Industrialists using paddy straw in their industries have a key role to play for reducing the pollution due to burning of biomass.He assured developers/Industrialists that Punjab Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is trying their best to boost industry using paddy straw to generate power. 

The State Government shall try to procure all power generated in Biomass Power Projects, said the Chief Secretary adding that after consulting with CM, the State Government would provide viability gap funding to offset the difference of tariff notified by CERC/PSERC and the tariff agreed by PSPCL for Biomass Power Projects.

During the meeting, some industrialist raised minor issues with the department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Panchayts, Commerce & Industries, PEDA, PAU, Power department, Pollution board. The Chief Secretary directed the concerned departments’ officers to solve the problems on the spot.

The Chief Secretary also said that if any Industrialist is facing the problem in getting the clearance and NOC’s from various departments, they can contact Principal Secretary, Commerce & Industries for expeditious clearances/approvals through single window of Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion (Invest Punjab). 

Similarly, Chief Secretary assured all help by State Government to the developers in addressing the problem faced by them. He asked the developers to approach any concerned departments and his office without any hesitation.
