Armed Forces Flag Day celebrated with patriotic zeal in Jammu Division

The Armed Forces Flag Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal across Jammu division as students, Veterans, government functionaries and civil society took part in fundraising and pinning of token Flags.   

At Kathua : District Administration Kathua observed Armed Forces Flag Day with patriotic zeal and fervor. The office bearers of Zila Sainik Welfare Board, Kathua formally pinned Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey with Flag.  

To mark the occasion, the District and Sectoral Officers, officials of different departments pinned the token Flag and donated it for the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. The fund raising exercise was carried out by NCC cadets, school children, Ex-servicemen and officials of Zila Sainik Welfare Board, Kathua.

At Ramban : District Administration Ramban observed the Armed Forces Flag Day across the district to collect funds for the welfare of soldiers and families of ex-servicemen & martyrs. At the District Headquarters Ramban, Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam, along with SSP, Mohita Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal, CPO, Dr. Karturi Lal, ACR Giasul-Haq, and other Officers, and staff members, observed two minutes silence and prayed for the peace of martyrs.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said “We have to respect brave soldiers all the time besides taking initiative for the welfare of families of ex-servicemen & martyrs.” The DC impressed upon the officers to resolve issues of persons belonging to military services on priority acknowledging their contribution towards the safety and security of the great Indian nation.

Distributing little flags in red, deep blue and light blue signifying the three services of Indian Military Forces in exchange for donations, the SSP said that Flag Day was a moment for Indians to express their gratitude to India’s military, as well as to remember those who died while serving the nation. The Officers, Officials, Beopar Mandal, and the general public also contributed to the noble causes.

At Poonch : Armed Forces Flag Day function was organised at Zila Sainik Welfare Board Office Poonch. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme began with the hoisting of Tricolor by the Chief Guest and singing of the National Anthem by the participants.

Speaking on the importance of Flag Day, the Additional Deputy Commissioner urged the countrymen to contribute generously towards the Armed Forces Flag Day fund and support the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. 

He said invaluable sacrifices of the defence forces cannot be repaid, but we must strive hard to look after them in their hour of need. Additional Deputy Commissioner also flagged off different teams of NCC Cadets and officials of Sainik Welfare Board Office Poonch to main market, different government and private institutions to collect contributions for the Flag Day fund.

General Manager DIC Poonch, Dr. Zakir Hussain, LDM J&K Bank, President Ex. Serviceman League, Veer Naris, Hridesh Sharma I/C Zila Sainik Welfare Board Poonch and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Sheep Husbandry Department : The Sheep Husbandry Department observed/ celebrated the Armed Forces Flag Day at Sheep Husbandry complex. Director Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu, Krishan Lal said that this day provides us an opportunity to express our gratitude to the serving soldiers and Ex. Servicemen. 

The Nation cannot forget the supreme sacrifices, dedication to duty and maintaining an eternal watch to safeguard the frontiers of the country made by our soldiers during the course of duty while serving the motherland.

He appealed to the officers/officials of the department to contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day.
