Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State,  Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment today reviewed the works being done under the Aspirational District Program in Moga district and issued necessary directions to the concerned departments.

Mr Athawale congratulated that the performance of district Moga is much better among the 112 aspirational districts of the entire country. Moga is currently ranked 26. District Moga is fulfilling the criteria set by Niti Aayog. He said that this program was started in 2018 under which an amount of Rs. 9 crores has been given to district Moga so far.

This amount is being spent on health, education, infrastructure, agriculture and financial activities. He told Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh that more work needs to be done for the development of skills, health, rural development, fish and animal husbandry, Anganwadi and poly house technology in district Moga.

Therefore, detailed proposals should be sent so that more funds can be sent to District Moga under this programme.  He assured that there will be no dearth of funds for the Moga district. He said that Punjab is known for feeding the entire country that's why every child in district Moga should get nutrition security.

He said that the Central and Punjab Governments have started schemes for the benefit of the people, which the common people do not get the full benefit of.  He emphasized that every step should be taken to spread the benefits of government schemes to every eligible person. He emphasized skilling more and more youth for a bright future.

After this, he also visited the drug de-addiction centre running at Janer village and reviewed the facilities being provided there to the drug addicts.  Expressing concern over the day-by-day decrease in groundwater in Punjab, he said that farmers should get out of paddy cultivation and go towards crop diversification.  To save the environment, crop residues should not be burnt.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mr Kulwant Singh informed about the demands of District Moga and assured that every effort will be made to fulfil all the indicators under this programme.
