The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today stressed upon bankers and line departments to put special focus on financial inclusion and skill development as it is the top most priority sector which is directly linked to the livelihood of the people.

The DDC was addressing a meeting of the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) to review the overall performance of the Banks, line departments and other financial institutions under Annual District Credit Plan (ADCP) for the 1st quarter of the current financial year 2022-23.

The DDC said that financial inclusion and skill development are major indicators under the Aspirational District Programme and stressed upon the concerned to aggregate their capacities and work towards boosting these indicators.Regarding awareness of various centrally sponsored schemes, the DDC stressed upon the officers to ensure their participation in all joint awareness camps so that people shall know about the schemes. 

The DDC directed the Chief Agriculture Officer to ensure that all allied departments take part in these camps.Earlier, Lead District Manager, Kupwara, Mehboob Ellahi Khan briefed the DDC about the progress of banks under different schemes and informed that Annual Credit Plan (ACP) for the current financial year stands at Rs.1740 crore against achievement of Rs.295 crore constituting 17 percent achievement up to ending June this year. 

He said the ACP includes Rs.1513.68 crore under priority sector and Rs.226.08 crore under non-priority sector.The DDC was informed that the banks have disbursed loans to the tune of Rs.304.41 crore in favour of women beneficiaries which works out to 8.51 percent of the total loans granted up to ending June this year against a benchmark of 5 percent in the district.

The meeting also reviewed progress of action points of previous meeting, financial literacy efforts by rural branches of banks in the district, role of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) for providing skill and capacity building to manage business and role of Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling Centre.

The DDC directed all bankers and line departments to speed up the processing of the cases and avoid pendency. He directed Lead Bank Manager to issue directions to the branch heads to avoid any kind of unnecessary delays in disposal of the cases.He also directed them to work in tandem so that best results are yielded on ground level and more and more youth could get benefitted.
