It has been reported that Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey could reunite for the sequel of their pulp fiction thriller ‘Haseen Dillruba’. Though the actor hasn’t officially confirmed yet Pannu said, “All I can say at this point is that I can’t deny (the news).” so, this statement is enough for us to give hints that the sequel is in process.
One of the popular films, which features not only Tapsee and Vikrant Massey but Harshvardhan Rane will soon hit our OTT screens. The first part revolves around the story in which the wife has been entangled in the murder of her husband. While the first film ended with the cops unable to solve the mystery and Tapsee’s character eloping with Vikrant, who turned out to be alive, with the actual victim being their co-star Harshvardhan Rane, a report by a news portal suggests that the makers are working on a sequel.
“There is interest in the film because it broke into the Indian market in a way that no other Hindi movie on Netflix was able to. Its success can be attributed to its story and pulpy treatment. The producers and the streaming giant are pursuing the idea of a sequel. Writer Kanika Dhillon is toying with the idea of picking up the narrative from where the first part ended." the source revealed.
Further, recalling writing on the film's script, Kanika Dhillon had recently told ANI, "Haseen Dilruba is a very special film not only because it got so much love from the audience all across- but for the first time I was able to explore the Hindi pulp fiction genre! for the first time I had people asking me -can we buy a Dinesh Pandit book from stores?... it absolutely thrilled me because it's a fictional character I created and it felt amazing that people were looking for him and seeking him out in real life! I am really looking forward to explore the world of pulp in Hindi cinema and bring forth more stories in this milieu."
The film Haseen Dillruba has been directed by Vinil Mathew and premiered on Netflix in 2021. It has been written by Kanika Dhillon and bankrolled by Aanand L Rai through his banner Colour Yellow Production in collaboration with Eros International and Himanshu Sharma.
