Adipurush, starring Prabhas, is one of the most anticipated upcoming Indian films, and the fact that it's being marketed as a pan-India film with a big budget, set against the backdrop of Hindu mythology. The film has been directed by ace filmmaker Om Raut (Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior), adds to the excitement. However, apart from the addition of Saif Ali Khan as the main antagonist and Kriti Sanon as the leading heroine, there has been little news from the producers since it was announced in mid-2020.But what grabbed our attention is the film’s budget.
You will be amazed to know that the film is all set to be made for a whopping amount of Rs 500 Crore. Yes, you read right! Bhushan Kumar confirmed recently saying, “Adipurush is made on a budget of Rs 500 crore. For that film, we know that the opening will be giant with houseful boards across. So, we will try to optimise the demand for the film by going ahead with blockbuster pricing. We know people will come to see it irrespective of pricing as it is a one-off kind of event cinema and there is only limited capacity. So, we will make sure to go all out with this film.”
Earlier, director Om Raut disclosed why he chose Prabhas as a lead star in the film. “I have tried to understand Prabhu Ram to the best of my ability and I will keep on understanding for the rest of my life. To my knowledge, eyes are a reflection of heart and Prabhas is such a pure soul that his eyes are calm. With his eyes, I got closest to my imagination of Prabhu Ram. Every time I cut to him, his soul gets reflected through his eyes, and that’s extremely pure,” Om had said.
For the unversed, Prabhas, the South hero who rose to popularity after playing a fearless king and prince in the blockbuster film Baahubali, will next be seen essaying the role of Lord Ram in his forthcoming flick Adipurush. In the planned Bollywood adaptation of Ramayan, Kriti Sanon plays Sita/Janki, Sunny Singh plays Laxman, and Saif Ali Khan plays the ten-headed Ravana. The picture is set to be released in January 2023, and the marketing campaign for it is planned to begin in October.
